A DAY IN THE LIFE OF ANDY

When my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Koa, walks into a children's hospital room, something miraculous unfolds. A child who moments before was withdrawn suddenly looks up. Eyes brighten. A small hand reaches out. The monitors beeping in the background fade into white noise as connection takes over. What I'm witnessing isn't just heartwarming—it's a profound biological transformation happening in real time, one that scientists have spent decades trying to understand and measure.

Halloween in New York City is always magical—but when you add dogs in costume, it becomes Howl-o-Ween! This year, Koa and I celebrated across two days of spooktacular fun, from the family-filled streets of the Upper West Side to the patio of the Virgin Hotel.

There’s something about fall in New York that feels like pure magic. The air is crisp, the leaves are golden, and weekends are made for cozy sweaters and outdoor adventures. With my aunt and uncle visiting from out of town, I wanted to show them a slice of autumn beyond the city skyline—so we packed up the car and headed to Dr. Davies Farm in Congers, New York, for a day of apple picking, pumpkin patches, and cider sipping.

Located at 101 Park Avenue in Manhattan (entrance on W 40th St), the AKC Museum of the Dog reopened in New York City in 2019 after spending three decades in St. Louis. The museum has moved to the Park Avenue location where the AKC headquarters, library, and archives are currently located, creating a comprehensive hub for all things canine.

Some days pass by quietly, full of routine walks, treats, and tail wags, and then some days stay with you forever. For Koa, my Rhodesian Ridgeback and certified therapy dog, and me, one of those days came during what we thought would be an ordinary hospital visit.

Today marks a very special milestone, Koa is turning seven years old! It feels like just yesterday he came home, that wiggling bundle of wheaten fur with those soulful brown eyes, and now here we are celebrating another year of unconditional love, gentle nuzzles, and countless moments of pure joy.

A rainy day in NYC turned into a stylish adventure as Koa began like any other day. But little did Koa know, we were going to Venture Studio in Greenwich for a photoshoot today. he stole the spotlight during a fun photoshoot with photographer Anna—serving looks, playing peek-a-boo, and sharing sweet moments with mom. From silly snapshots to soulful stares, Koa was fully himself: loving, playful, and just a little judgy. A perfect day, captured in every frame.
